Such a beautiful day in North Texas! These windows will be staying open to let in the bird songs and 80° degree weather!
I have such a love and appreciation for pearls. They are an organic gem that take years to form into a “unique” piece of perfection. Like a relationship, with time and effort, it will create something beautiful. From my love on Valentine’s, @FranklinLeon. <3
I am in love with these photos and cannot wait until we get to take another one!
The first one was taken in 1997 and the second in 2010. My sister, Lyndsey, is on the left and I am on the right in both of these photos. In 1997, I would have been five and her, four. In 2010, as you can see from my Letter Jacket, it was my senior year in highschool and I was 18 years old and her 17. You can see our cat, Dora, tucked inside my jacket.
Our next transformation picture will probably be in 2015 after I graduate from college. Or we might just wait another 13 years!
Good day y’all! I wanted to share this OOTD with everyone just because I find it very neat and I am really enjoying it! It is so comfy and can be pulled off as a casual or work outfit.
First we will begin with the eye catcher - the plaid cardigan. I pulled this from the back of my Nana’s closet, no joke! I had to tinker with it a bit before I wore it. This lovely piece even came with shoulder pads! You heard right, shoulder pads! I removed those and then had to tighten some loose buttons.
The basic red long sleeve shirt, that you can find anywhere, has been in my possession for about four years. So, it did not cost me a dime for this particular outfit. I doubt I gave anymore than ten to fifteen dollars for it.
I love jewelry, but I do not over-do my outfits with a ton of bling - I keep it fairly simple. It may be hard to see my jewelry in this photo, but I gave a dollar for each the bracelet and the necklace! They may not last long for the quality, but I’m sure with gentle wear I can get some use out of them.
Now let’s get down with it. These bottoms were found in a second hand store. The price tag said eight dollars, but I bought them on sale at fifty percent off! Four dollars baby! They are in great shape and I’ll tell you that they do not get any more comfortable than these.
This is where the splurge comes in. I purchased these Nine West mid-sized heels at DSW for sixty dollars. I wear these all of the time - they are a great height and go with everything. (Insider: I find they can scuff up pretty easily, so in the light grey scuff marks, I fill it in with a black Sharpie! XD No one knows!)
For my hair - I also caught a great deal on my haircut! I was nervous about the quality of cut I was going to receive for a seven dollar cut - but it turned out great! Of course, I tipped her good! This cut is about a week old, so I am still trying to learn how to style it. Much different than what I had before. I got 9.5 inches off! I was so upset that I didn’t get to donate it though. :( So for future reference, always measure your hair if you think you are close to the 10” mark to donate to Locks of Love.)
I hope you enjoy this outfit as much as I am and I hope it will inspire you to be creative and thrifty! ;)
To the janitor on the other side who just said, “I don’t mind, if they didn’t make the scuff marks on the ground, then I wouldn’t have a job!” It is good to be optimistic; I’ll give you that, but don’t belittle yourself! You are smart with many important purposes in life. There are so many opportunities and open doors, just aim for something high! Even if you miss, you will be a lot further along in your accomplishments than you were before you started.
Enculturation is a product from one’s given historical, political, and economic conditions. It is up to the person to either mirror that same image or paint a new portrait. Why not add some new shades of color?
For the Aching Heart
I hear, I hear
the weaping, the tear
the tear of an aching heart
who won’t accept to be apart
the love and smiles
memories lay in piles.
I hear, I hear
the weaping, the fear
the fear of an aching heart
for a life that flashed by like a dart
the hugs and laughter
you can feel before and after.
I hear, I hear
God whispering in my ear
saying, “Do not fear, I am in control
trust me with your life and soul
and you will see.”
Dedicated to Blake Simmons, RIP.
The works behind the name of this company is amazing and I’m not using that word lightly either. Mary Kay Ash, founder of the company, was one amazing woman. Not only an ambitious entrepreneur, but a caring, loving, woman of God. I have ran into a few older folks who have some sort of story relating their experience with her or her company. I have heard nothing but how loving of a person she was. Still to this day, her positive attributes ring in the air of women’s lives, inspiring and motivating them, building their mentality and confidence. Keeping “God first, family second, and career third” firm in place. Not to mention the skin care and cosmetic products are great. Always up to date with the modern world and latest trend. Mary Kay has been a blessing to my life and I know it will take me to great places someday. I already have new and amazing friends because of it. Thank you Mary Kay.
